Foz
We left fairly early, well for us and headed towards Betanzos, We stopped in an Aire to have breakfast, but decided rather than stay the night we would head further towards the coast. We settled on a little Aire called Camping Coto, 300 meters from a lovely beach. Once we had set up and the sun got a little cooler we got the bikes out and went for a wee ride.
Sunshine was forecast the following day, Wednesday and so we planned to have a day at the beach. The waves were brilliant, a little bit like Portstewart Strand but on steroids.
We lazed about on the beach, and tried out or new beach tent, which was perfect for our needs. After the exhibition we made of ourselves last year, trying to put the other one back into its case. It was one of the first things we bought when we got home.
Came back from the beach and had a lovely shower. Tired but not sure why.
Saw a lovely vintage camper 50 years old, don’t make them like that now
The site was run by a lovely fellow called Pablo.

Nothing like knitting in the sun

Rough idea of the trip so far
Tapia de Casarego
On our journey along the north coast of Spain, short trip this morning to an Aire at Tapia de Casarego. The Aire was on Tripstop app and was 4 euro/24 hours. We stocked up on some food, had a siesta then went to the beach for a few hours. Tonights sunset was a treat to behold.

Cudillero
We woke up to the pitter, patter of rain drops on the van this morning, so just rolled over and had a lie in. The pitter patter was joined by some very loud bangs of thunder. When it dried up we headed on our journey along the North coast of Spain to a lovely fishing village called Cudillero. Simple enough free markup, 15 mins walk from the village. We forgot (again) to lift meat out of the freezer so ate out this evening.

Asturias
On the road again and we had a small Aire in mind but when we got there, it really didn’t have much going for it. We decided to move on and gain some distance. However Google maps had other ideas and not once but twice it played up and we had to leave the road we were on to reset it. Right first time we had already passed our destination, so we pressed on to our next destination on the list. We arrived at what was to be a paid Aire, but unfortunately it was full. Plan D we had a quick look and headed for an aire at San Miguel. It was getting late. Tea made and a more or less straight to bed.

Haro
The plan to day was to head south in the direction of Barcelona. We choose an Aire at a small place called Haro. We were able to get some laundry done and get some supplies. The laundry seemed to be run by a man and a woman, but to say they kept it clean would be an understatement. The Aire was free and had alll the services you would expect. It was created at the time of the wind festival.

Corella & Zaragoza
Things have been a little bit flat the last couple of days. Don’t get me wrong the park ups have been fine, but it has either be raining or the places haven’t been very interesting a bit industrial to be kind.
We decided to head for Zaragoza and stay there for a couple of days. A guy on Motorhome Fun recommended an Aire at the University. Have to say its a brilliant locating with a short walk to catch the tram into the city. 2 euros hard to beat.
The city is very wide spread and we are not sure where to visit, but quite by accident we ended up in the old town. The cathedral was magnificent, in terms of the craft man ship and stone work.
2nd Day, lazy start. We knew today was going to be very warm, in fact it got up to 37 degrees. The plan was to walk to the near by Carrefour supermarket in the morning, then go into the city for tea in the evening. We got the tram which is excellent in terms of cost and handiness for getting to the city €3.30 for two one way.
We settled on a fairly busy square for to have tea. Three courses, bottle of water and a drink for 27 euro. We both had Steak and chips.
Unfortunately there was a free Palastine rally just over from us, but a high police presence made sure there was no trouble.
Lorraine spotted a Sephora perfume shop and they had Lorraine’s perfume, coco Channel.
We walked a bit and came across three guys playing Latin American music. We sat and watched for a while but we were also entertained by this old guy trying to dance with any female he could find. We walked a little more and caught the tram back to the van. Race across the world was on tonight, so we watched that then went to bed. The HEAT was unbearable. After a few hours there was some rain and then it cooled nicely. The plan was to get up at 6:00am and get on the road towards Tarragona.

The journey continues

Tarragona
We were glad we made the effort to get up at 6:00am, as leaving the city was much less stressful, and we were soon on the highway as thy call it over here. We were heading for a small campsite, not to far from our ultimate destination of Barcelona.
This wee site was a gem of a find, not quite open yet as it had been taken over by two lads Pablo and John. It had everything we wanted, mostly shade, but also close proximity to a lovely beach.
We had electric hook up so were able to charge all batteries and gadgets.
We spent two lovely times on the beach the water was beautiful.
The site was not far from a bus stop and a no 11 bus takes you to the city in about 15 mins.
It was hot even at 17:00, but we explored the old town before settling on pizza for tea.
When we got off the bus, there seemed to be a situation with the traffic. There was so kind of procession, but unfortunately the lead tractor had quit and was causing all sorts of traffic chaos.
We needed some cash so google maps helped us to find an ATM. Johns camera SD card gave up the ghost so we were able to get a new one at a phone shop. In the little time we had, we were not able to do this city justice, lots to see and do, perhaps another time.
